Obit: Laurel Clark

Laurel Ann Clark, 77, of Stockton, Iowa, died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2021 at Genesis Medical Center East, Davenport. A visitation was held Aug. 10 at Bentley Funeral Home in Durant. A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2021 at Durant Cemetery.

Laurel was born in Van Nuys, California on July 27, 1944, the daughter of Henry and Marian (Minnett) Dodson. Laurel married the love of her life and best friend, David Clark, on Oct. 12, 1979 in Blue Grass. The love shared between Laurel and David was one of a kind. It could be felt by everyone in their presence.

Laurel was a homemaker, who cherished taking care of her family. After her family was grown, Laurel enjoyed working various jobs outside of her home. She also enjoyed attending local stock car races and reading. Laurel was also musically inclined, and played the accordion and the organ. Most of all, Laurel loved spending time with her family, and picnics at Wildcat Den.

Laurel will be dearly missed by her loving husband, David; eight children, Marshall (Cheryl) Callaway, Rebecca (Paul) Gillis, Mark Callaway, Cheryl (Calvin) Hunter, David Callaway, Matthew (Jodie) Callaway, David “Davey” (Kerry) Clark and Robert Clark; 25 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and three sisters; Nancy Hebb, Linda (Johnny) Vinney and Marian (Jerry) Thedorff.

She was preceded in death by their beloved son, John; six brothers and two sisters.
