Kenneth W. Freund 82, of Walcott died Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at the home he lived in his entire life. Visitation was held July 15 at the Bentley Funeral Home in Durant. Private family graveside services to be held at the Blue Grass Cemetery.

Kenneth was born in Davenport on May 3, 1938 to Lorenz and Leone (Seghers) Freund. He graduated from Davenport Central High School in 1956. He served his country in the Army Reserves. Ken married Carol M. Kress on Feb. 15, 1964 in Davenport.

Ken farmed in Scott County his entire life. He raised stock cows and calves. He served as Scott County Soil Commissioner for 14 years and was a Blue Grass Township Trustee. For 18 years, Ken transported Scott County 4-H projects to the State Fair. He was active in the maintenance and preservation of the Kistenmacher Cemetery.

Ken is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carol; their daughters: Vicki (David) Thompson of Idaho Falls, Idaho and Nancy Freund of Brunswick Hills, Ohio; 2 grandchildren, Jared and Shannon Thompson.

He was preceded in death by two brothers: Sylvester and Lester Freund; and his sister Marcella Rowe.
