James “Jim” Grunder, 81 of Wilton died on Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2021 at his home. A Celebration of Life Service was held Saturday, Oct. 30 at the United Methodist Church of Wilton. Inurnment will take place at Oakdale Cemetery, Wilton at a later date.

Jim was born in Muscatine to Harold “Bill” and Charlotte (Smith) Grunder. He graduated from Wilton High School in 1958. Jim married Sharon Kraklio on June 18, 1960 in Wilton.

Together with his dad and brothers he owned and operated Grunder Ready Mix for many years. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Wilton Masonic Lodge #167 AF & AM and the Shriners of Davenport.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling to his grandchildren’s’ events, taking his dogs for a ride, and a cold Miller Lite.

Jim is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 61 years, Sharon of Wilton; his children, Greg Grunder of Rialto, California, Brian (Robin) Grunder of Durant, and Shari (Scott) Wittlake of Caryon, Texas; his 11 grandchildren, Airamee and Airiana Grunder, Ty (Samantha) Grunder, Brady (Rebecca) Grunder, Nathan Paulsen, Brinn Grunder, Marisa Paulsen, Claire Paulsen, Danielle Paulsen, Barak Wittlake and Briggs Wittlake; two great-grandchildren, Finn and Olive Grunder; three siblings, Paul (Sandy) Grunder, Roger (Carolyn) Grunder and Marcia Grunder; and a sister-in-law, Nancy Grunder.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Bob Grunder.
