Hazel Faye Ervin, 95, of Wilton, Iowa died Sunday, April 18, 2021 at Leland Smith Assisted Living in Wilton.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 21 at Zion Lutheran Church in Wilton. Funeral services will be held on 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at the church. Interment will be in Oakdale Cemetery in Wilton. Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church or Lutheran Hour Ministries in her memory.

Hazel was born in Bennett, Iowa on Oct. 8, 1925 to Ludwig and Beulah (Wagner) Ketelsen. She married Richard C. “Dick” Ervin on Dec. 9, 1949 in Wilton. He preceded her in death on Jan. 30, 2002.

Hazel was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Wilton, where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, was a member of the Fellowship League, Ladies Aid and a charter member of the Altar Guild. She enjoyed gardening, camping, fishing and roller-skating. She and Dick enjoyed trips on their motorcycle. She was an excellent cook and baker.

Hazel is survived and lovingly remembered by her children, Tim (Joyce) Ervin of Wilton, Daniel (Judith) Ervin of Williamsburg, and Lisa (Shawn) Welch of Wilton; son-in-law Lysle Whitmer of Wilton; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband Richard; daughter Bonnie Whitmer; grandson Justin Welch; sisters, Hulda Chapman, Helen Voss and Mary Lou Voss; and brother Harlan Ketelsen.
