Ernest Joe Hora, 86, of Wilton passed away Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2020, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, Iowa City. Cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial gathering will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be left at www.bentleyfuneralhome.com.

Joe was born in Conesville, Iowa on April 3, 1934, the son of Clarence and Frieda (Mullinnix) Hora. He graduated from Conesville High School. Joe married Monyeen Wildasin on April 3, 1954 in Wilton. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1957-1959.

Joe farmed his entire life on the farm in Cedar County, retiring in 1998. After retiring, Joe and Monyeen enjoyed traveling. Joe was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Wilton. He also served on several community boards. He enjoyed assembling over 100 puzzles, and displayed them in his basement. Joe was skilled at tinkering and fabricating anything he needed around the farm. He was proud of everything he earned. He took meticulous care of his home, yard and property.

Joe will be dearly missed by his wife, Monyeen; two sons, Rick (Kathleen) Hora of Ankeny, and Doug (Deanna) Hora of Wilton; three grandchildren, Andrea (Joe) Rodgers of Waukee, Marcus (Andrea) Hora of Marion, and Caitlin Hora of Davenport; four great-grandchildren, Logan and Krissa Rodgers and Elijah and Hannah Hora; and two sisters, Shirley (Merle) Walker of Riverside, and Mary Jones of Columbus Junction.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Frank and Leo Hora; and two sisters, Marge Charlier and Rita Stalkfleet.
