Mussels in Muscatine event Nov. 14

Mussels of Muscatine is hosting a free event for the public Thursday, Nov. 14 at the National Pearl Button Museum, 117 W. Second St. in Muscatine, from 5-8 p.m. Join Muscatine area organizations to learn about the history of Muscatine’s mussels that led the community to become the pearl button capital of the world and how those same mussels play an important role in water quality.

Find out how Muscatine locals want to bring mussels back to the Mississippi River and help purify water by utilizing nature’s own animals. One mussel can filter 10 gallons of water each day!
