Muscatine man charged with sex crimes against a minor

Editor’s note: The Advocate News received the following press release from the Muscatine County Sheriff’s Office Oct. 20.

On Oct. 19 at or about 10:07 a.m., deputies were called to an address in Muscatine County for a harassment complaint. Upon arrival, the deputy learned the complainant’s minor daughter had received sexually explicit messages from an unknown suspect(s) via “SnapChat.” The suspect(s) attempted to entice the minor female into meeting him in Muscatine County. Investigators were sent to those areas in an attempt to locate and identify the suspect(s) but were ultimately unsuccessful in those efforts.

The communication slowed after a short time but picked up in the early afternoon. Investigators were able to identify the suspect during those communications. The suspect, identified as Adam Michael Delong, 23, was subsequently located at 608 Sycamore Street, his residence, and taken into custody.

Delong has been charged with Harassment (2nd Degree/Serious Misdemeanor), Enticing a Minor (C Felony), Indecent Exposure (Serious Misdemeanor), Extortion (D Felony), and Sexual Exploitation of a Minor (C Felony). Delong is being held at the Muscatine County Jail on a $50,000 bond.

Those who assisted in the investigation include the Muscatine County Sheriff’s Office Patrol/Investigations Division, the Muscatine Police Department Patrol/Investigations Division and the Wilton Police Department.
