Illinois agent ordered to stop Iowa practice

DES MOINES – The Iowa Insurance Division yesterday ordered Chad A. Ware of Moline, Illinois, to cease and desist doing insurance business in Iowa for six months as his nonresident insurance producer license has been suspended. Ware is also ordered to pay penalties totaling $6,000 in civil penalties and $1,200 in costs of the investigation and prosecution.

In various instances, Ware either misrepresented terms of insurance to consumers or made misrepresentations on applications for insurance to insurance carriers.

“Iowans deserve to get what they pay for. Mr. Ware, using fraudulent and dishonest practices, misled insurers and consumers in violation of law and these practices can cause harm to both consumers and insurance carriers,” Chance McElhaney, Iowa Insurance Division Communications Director said. “We encourage Iowans to not only contact their insurance carrier but also contact the Iowa Insurance Division to file a complaint with our office whenever something doesn’t seem quite right.”

Iowans can double-check to ensure the person they are looking to purchase an insurance product from is properly licensed by contacting the Iowa Insurance Division.
