Sarne Moore and Eileen Sullivan of Wilton have an Ash tree that was taken due to Emerald Ash Borer. They decided not to have it completely removed and took the opportunity to save the base by having it carved. Moore originally wanted it to be carved into a totem pole but the couple decided to go with Sullivan's idea of a stand of flowers. Finding a chainsaw artist was their next task. Sullivan explained her idea of carving the tree to a friend, who pointed them to Clint Henik, owner of CarveRWay in Mt. Vernon. They contacted Henik and discussed their idea of flowers and leaves. Henik sent back a preliminary sketch and a quote. Moore said, “Some might say it has to be a Midwest thing, because their first purchase of art is chainsaw art, but it is totally worth it, and I would not have it any other way. What Clint did is truly amazing, and the tree came out beautifully. Eileen and I could not be happier with our decision and Clint’s work on this amazing piece of art.
