Frances “Franny” Pahl, age 94, of Durant, Iowa, passed away Friday, Jan. 10, 2025, at Wheatland Manor. A private family graveside service will be held in Durant Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Durant Ambulance. Online condolences may be left at www.bentleyfuneralhome.com.
Franny was born on April 6, 1930, the daughter of Harry and Marcelle (Oudot) Seligman in Edgington, Ill. She graduated from Durant High School with the Class of 1948. In 1950, Franny married Richard Pahl in Davenport.
Franny worked at the Central Petroleum Company in Walcott, retiring after many years of dedicated service. Franny had a knack for finding joy in life’s simple pleasures. She cherished her mornings at the Durant Creamery and the Durant Legion, sharing coffee and conversation with friends. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and reading and delighted in collecting cookbooks and recipes.
One of Franny’s favorite pastimes was taking drives with her son, Curt. Every year, her family would gather at Wildcat Den for a family picnic and reconnect with their siblings and extended family. Known for her quick wit and contagious giggle, Franny brought joy and laughter to those around her. Above all, she loved her family deeply, leaving a legacy of love and kindness.
Franny will be dearly remembered by her three children, Connie (Roger) Wuestenberg, Curt Pahl, and Cort (Carrie) Pahl; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Glen (Janice) Seligman; one sister, Rose Marie (LeRoy) Moeller; and one sister-in-law, Fern Seligman.
Franny was preceded in death by one sister, Yvette Seligman; six brothers, George, Rene, Harry, Andre, Robert and Norman Seligman; and her special friend, Donald Burmeister.
