Edith Anita Paustian, age 90, of Durant, Iowa, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Friday, June 3, 2022, at Leland Smith Assisted Living, Wilton. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Monday, June 6, 2022 at Bentley Funeral Home, Durant. A visitation will be held from 10:00 - 11:30 a.m., prior to the service. Edith was born on March 13, 1932, the daughter of John and Emma Grace (McCormack) Rehbehn. She graduated from West Liberty High School with the Class of 1949. Edith married Robert L. Taylor on October 8, 1950. Edith later married Ronald L. Paustian on January 14, 1978 in Wilton. Ron passed away on February 2, 2011.
Edith was a loving mom and homemaker. In addition, she worked outside the home at Quality Hardware, the Wilton Locker, Baker & Budding Veterinarian Clinic and Neal's Sewing Center. Edith also farmed alongside her husband, Ron on the family farm. She was an excellent seamstress, creating keepsakes and clothing for her family and friends. Edith enjoyed dancing, quilting and cooking for her family. She was a longtime active member of the Durant American Legion Auxiliary. Edith cherished all the friendships that she made over the past ten years living at Leland Smith Assisted Living. Most of all, Edith loved spending time with her family.
Edith will be lovingly remembered by her three children, Jeanette (Jim) Sherwood of Wilton, Mike (Rhonda) Taylor of Tipton, and Gene (Debbie) Taylor of Wilton; two step-daughters, Denise Paustian and Debra (Chris) Bauman, both of Davenport; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Ron Paustian; and one infant daughter, Margery Taylor.
