DES MOINES — Millions of people will flood to Des Moines this August for the return of the Iowa State Fair. One of the traditions surrounding the 11-day event is the Iowan of the Day program. The Iowa State Fair Blue Ribbon Foundation needs your help in finding Iowans from across the state that show a sense of Iowa pride as they volunteer in their community.

With the support of Cookies Food Products, the Blue Ribbon Foundation’s Iowan of the Day Award will select 10 outstanding Iowans to be honored during the 2021 Iowa State Fair, Aug. 12-22. Nominations are due Thursday, July 1.

Wouldn’t it be rewarding to recognize one of your community’s dedicated citizens with a fun-filled Iowa State Fair package? Each Iowan of the Day is awarded a day of recognition at the 2021 Iowa State Fair, including an introduction on the Anne and Bill Riley Stage, $200 cash, use of the Iowan of the Day golf cart for the day, VIP parking, gate admission, hotel accommodations at the Des Moines Marriott Downtown, and four tickets to the evening Grandstand concert.

Help spread the word and encourage people to nominate the outstanding Iowan in your hometown. Nomination forms can be found online at www.BlueRibbonFoundation.org/IOTD or contact Megan Decker at 515-262-3111 ext. 378. All nominees must currently reside in Iowa.
