Knouse graduates

from Simpson College

Simpson College announced that Erik Knouse of Wilton graduated with bachelor’s degrees in Computer Science and Computer Information Systems.

The college conferred 222 degrees at the conclusion of the Spring 2020 semester. The annual commencement ceremony was postponed due to COVID-19 and is scheduled to take place Oct. 17, as part of homecoming and family weekend.

Brisker named to

Air Force Dean’s List

Trey Brisker of Wilton was named to the Dean’s List at the United States Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, for the Spring 2020 Semester.

Roth named to Minnesota State Mankato High Honor List

The Academic High Honor and Honor lists (Dean’s lists) for the past spring semester at Minnesota State University, Mankato have been announced. Among 4,290 students, a total of 1,485 students qualified for the High Honor List by achieving a 4.0 straight “A” average, while 2,805 students earned a 3.5 to 3.99 average to qualify for the Honor List.

Victoria Roth of Wilton was named to the High Honor List.

Rouse named to Central

College Dean’s List

Elizabeth Rouse of Durant has been named to the Central College Dean’s List for the Spring 2020 semester. The honor is awarded to full-time students who achieve a 3.5 GPA or higher on a 4.0 scale while taking 12 or more graded credit hours for the semester. More than 325 students at Central College were named to the Dean’s List for the Spring 2020 semester.

Schemmel named Big Ten

Distinguished Scholar

Sarah Schemmel of Durant was one of 90 University of Iowa student-athletes to have been named Big Ten Conference Distinguished Scholars.

Big Ten Faculty Representatives established the Distinguished Scholar Award in 2008 to supplement the Academic All-Big Ten program. The recipients must be letter winners in at least their second academic year at their institution and have a minimum GPA of 3.7 or higher for the previous academic year, excluding summer school.

Among the Iowa honorees, 29 maintained a perfect 4.0 grade point average during the 2019-20 academic term, including Schemmel, a junior on the women’s swimming and diving team majoring in speech & hearing sciences.

Local students named to

U. of Dubuque Dean’s List

The University of Dubuque recognized students for being appointed to the Spring Semester 2020 Academic Dean’s List. To be named to the Dean’s List, a student must earn a grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale for that semester.

Local students named to the Dean’s List included William Bentley, Eliana Berry and Paige Brown, all of Durant.
