Bowers would ‘improve services countywide’

I have been in law enforcement in my military and civilian career for the past 36 years. For the past 31 years, I have spent my civilian law enforcement career in Cedar County and Durant and I’m one of the most tenured officers. I’ve come to know most of the public safety personnel countywide and established many friendships and great working relationships.

The Cedar County Sheriff’s Office is an excellent organization that has great employees. I applaud the work the deputies, dispatchers and correctional staff do to make our communities safe. I spent 26 years of my career there and have seen many events and changes in that time since.

The purpose of this letter is to share my support for Matt Bowers to be the next Cedar County Sheriff. I have known Matt Bowers and have worked with him since the beginning of his law enforcement career. Matt has grown as a person, and also as an officer. Matt has much experience as an officer with being in a supervisory position at the Muscatine County Sheriff’s Office, Muscatine Special Operations Team, Muscatine K9 handler, and as Atalissa Police Chief. He is also married with three wonderful children. Matt farms his family farm north of Wilton.

Some of the goals Matt Bowers would like are to improve services countywide. Make sure all residents are getting law enforcement coverage that they pay taxes for. Strengthen relationships and communications in a professional manner with all agencies. Matt will show up for work instead of delegating all responsibilities to subordinates. Be watchful of taxpayer dollars and watch for misuse or misappropriation. Getting the agency involved in crime prevention programs that will strengthen the community.

With COVID-19 precautions in place, it has been difficult for Matt to get his message out. If you have questions about Matt, give him a call or send him a message on social media and he can share with you what he is all about.
