Bennett Siegfried Petersen Scholarship

Posted

The Siegfried Petersen Scholarship committee would like to announce that applications for this scholarship opportunity are now available at the Bennett School. The spring of 2021 will be the 17th time that this scholarship will be awarded to at least three deserving individuals. Although the exact figure for the scholarships is uncertain at this time, the committee anticipates awarding significant amounts again this school year.

At least two scholarships will be awarded to needy applicants of good moral character who reside within the boundaries of the Bennett Community School District. At least one scholarship will also be given to Cedar County residents. Applicants may pursue any course of studies, undergraduate or graduate level, at any educational institution, which normally maintains a regular faculty and curriculum (colleges, universities, nursing schools, technical schools, etc.) public or private. The recipient must be enrolled in a minimum of a one-year program.

It was Mr. Petersen’s wish that the recipients should be people who show a desire to improve their station in life through education, and would return those benefits to the community. It is not necessary that the recipient be a top scholar or athlete, but rather a good citizen who expresses a desire to lead a life of service to our community and our country.

Applications can be obtained at the Bennett School office. Applications may also be downloaded from the Bennett School website: www.bennett.k12.ia.us. (Go to the district page, then Siegfried Petersen Scholarship). Please contact Amanda Skriloff at 563-890-2228 for an application or more information. The deadline for applications is March 19.
