The deadline to apply for the Bennett American Legion, Auxiliary and Sons scholarships has been extended to June 1. All applications are to be completed and returned electronically. To receive an application, call Jo Treadwell at 563-886-6224, Bennett Auxiliary scholarship chair.
The Bennett Legion family is sponsoring a minimum of three $500 scholarships. The applicants should be a senior from the Bennett School District attending any high school and does not need to be related to a veteran; or may be a high school senior who is a direct descendant of a past or present member of the Bennett Legion or Auxiliary (i.e., child, grandchild, great-grandchild, etc.), regardless of high school they attend.
The applicant should possess the educational background to pursue any course of study at an educational institution that maintains a regular faculty and curriculum such as a college, university, nursing school, vocational or technical school, area community or junior college, business school or cosmetology school.
Application forms are still available to apply for the Department of Iowa American Legion Auxiliary scholarships. The Department Auxiliary offers approximately 12 scholarships with the completion of one application form. Applicants must be related to a veteran and attend an institution of higher learning in Iowa.
