After four years of residing in Wilton, the Backyard Challenge trophy, sponsored by the Advocate News, was presented to Durant High School Sept. 17 prior to the annual Durant vs. Wilton football game. The Wildcats claimed the Backyard Challenge trophy with an 11-9 score in the 2020-2021 school year (based on every boys' and girls' sport receiving points for wins in the rivalry games). Advocate News Editor Derek Sawvell (right) is shown presenting the trophy to Durant Activities Director Matt Straube. Also present is Wilton-Durant Superintendent Joe Burnett (left). The Durant student section took a moment to celebrate the trophy prior to the football game, which Wilton won 24-22.
