Advocate News Football Contest: Dave Fratzke wins week one

Posted

Week 1 of the Advocate News Football Contest came with the confusion that the COVID-19 pandemic presents. Three of the 13 games in week one were either postponed or canceled due to COVID-19 cases or testing. Those games included Dubuque Wahlert at North Scott, West Liberty at Tipton, and Houston at Baylor. Those games were not counted toward this week’s totals.

The tie-breaker score was 51, the total number of points in West Branch’s 43-8 win over Wilton.

Dave Fratzke of Wilton won the $25 top prize this week, missing one game and guessing 48 for the tie-breaker.

Ed VanZandt of Wilton took second place and $15 this week, missing two games and guessing 49 for the tie-breaker.

Steve Kuehn of DeWitt took third place and $10 this week, missing two games and having a tie-breaker prediction of 56.

This week’s scores included: Assumption 31, Central DeWitt 6; Beckman 28, Cascade 19; West Branch 43, Wilton 8; UCF 49, Georgia Tech 21; Miami 47, Louisville 34; Pittsburgh 21, Syracuse 10; Bears 17, Giants 13; Cowboys 40, Falcons 39; Cardinals 30, Washington 15; Seahawks 35, Patriots 30.
