2021 F&B college scholarship program

WHEATLAND — F&B Communications announces several college scholarship opportunities for graduating seniors in the service area.

In the 19th year of the program, F&B Communications will award one $500 local scholarship to a student based on scholastic achievement, citizenship and school and community activities.

F&B Communications will also partner with the Foundation for Rural Service (FRS) to support all eligible entries in a national scholarship program that will award several $2,500 scholarships. FRS also sponsors the following named scholarships: Everett Kneece Scholarship ($7,000), Good Neighbor Scholarship, and JSI Scholarship ($5,000).

Any graduating high school senior that lives in a household that receives services from F&B Communications in the service areas of Bennett, Calamus, Delmar, Lowden or Wheatland is eligible to apply.

An online application and program guidelines are available at http://www.fbc-tele.com/scholarship/. The completed application and accompanying materials must be submitted by March 5.

The application includes a brief essay and an educator’s statement form. Students must also submit one letter of recommendation from a local community leader and a copy of his/her grade transcripts.

Additional scholarship opportunities are available for eligible students through F&B Communications’ association with Aureon and the Iowa Communications Alliance.

The Aureon scholarship is available to students pursuing a STEM-related course of study. The Aureon program will award over $10,000. Individual scholarships will range from $1,000 to $3,000. The application deadline for this scholarship is March 1.

The Iowa Communications Alliance (ICA) offers one $1,500 college scholarship to a high school senior. The application deadline for this scholarship is March 4.
