When partisan colors fade

Fall color exploded this month as trees gave up the life-giving green chlorophyll that made them all look and function alike. Come October, leaves revert to distinct hues that emphasize stark differences. Yellow ash. Red maples. Golden oaks. Then waning autumn casts color to the ground, leaving uniformly bare branches to face winter together.
