An Eldridge man with aggravated assault and public intoxication convictions is being held on drug charges after police responded to a fatal shooting at his residence Thursday afternoon.

Police say Jessica Bostrom, 28, died from a gunshot wound in the apartment she shared with Shane Bostrom in the 300 block of West Davenport Street.

Eldridge police responded at 1:15 p.m. Thursday. By 1:30 p.m., Scott County sheriff’s deputies and Iowa State Patrol officers were on the scene.

Search warrant affidavits confirmed police responding to the shooting found marijuana plants, and smoking accessories. Shane Bostrom was moving the plants outside the apartment when authorities arrived.

Shane Robert Bostrom, 34, was arrested Thursday on drug, child endangerment, obstruction of justice and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was being held in Scott County Jail on a $14,300 bond.

Iowa court records show Bostrom has been convicted of:

  • Assault with use and display of a weapon, Oct. 25, 2012. He pleaded guilty and paid fines and fees and restitution totaling $2,385.05.
  • Vicious dog at large arrest by Eldridge police, Aug. 22, 2017 near his residence.
  • Disorderly conduct and interference with official acts, Jan. 30, 2015, following a domestic disturbance investigation by Eldridge police.
