Police investigate gunshot death in Eldridge

Eldridge police, Scott County Sheriff's deputies and Iowa State Patrol officers responded to a call of a gunshot death about 1:50 p.m. at 306 West Davenport St., Eldridge.

Witnesses reported an ambulance had arrived and left. They said police  and some occupants of the house went to the police station two blocks north.

Interim Eldridge chief Joe Sisler was working with deputies and  a state trooper outside the home and cautioned neighbors to stay back.

Plainclothesed deputies were in and around the house, taking photographs and marking the crime scene.

 Sisler issued this statement at 3 p.m.

"The Eldridge police department along with Scott County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation  division are currently investigating a shooting death within the city limits of Eldridge."
