Zoey died on Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2024, at the Stead Family Children’s Hospital, Iowa City, following a courageous battle with leukemia.

Zoey was born on Oct. 5, 2012, in Davenport, the daughter of Ryan and Amanda Moeller Carney.  She was a sixth grader at Alan Shepard Elementary School in Long Grove.

Zoey was a ray of sunshine who inspired you to be a better version of yourself.  She always had a smile on her face, even on her worst days, that would radiate to others.  She was a leader and could make friends with anyone, child or adult.  Zoey loved sports; she was an exceptional four sport athlete.  She played soccer from a young age, playing for Iowa ODP (Olympic Development Program), Bettendorf Soccer Association, North Scott Soccer Club, and FC Fire.  She also played basketball, volleyball, and softball with North Scott programs and was an Iowa State fanatic, Go Clones! Zoey also was a member of 4-H and enjoyed showing dairy cows at the Fair, had ducks and chickens, as well as Petey and Bailey, her canine buddies.  She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish Zoey’s memory are her parents, Ryan and Amanda; brothers, Logan and Zach; grandparents, Glen and Kathy Moeller, Long Grove, and Rob and Barb Carney, Milan; uncles, aunts, and cousins: Sean (Maggie) Moeller and their children: Dylan, Sloane, Reece, Presley; Megan (Justin) Conger and their daughter, Annabelle; Shawn Carney; and Jennifer (Matt) Versluis, and their children: Madison and Grace; and a large extended family.

Zoey was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Charles and Elizabeth Loussaert and Howard and Margaret Moeller, John and Jean Welch and Lewis and Eleanor Timmons, Robert Carney, Sr.; great-aunts, Colleen Moeller, Lori Welch, and Marlene Welch; great-uncles, Robert and William Loussaert, Randy Denner and John Hansen.  May they rest in peace.
