Wayne Clarence Bell, a resident of North Fort Myers, Fla., passed away peacefully in Lee Memorial Hospital, Fort Myers, Fla., after an extended illness. Born on May 5, 1939, to Clarence and Lillian (Peeters) Bell in Davenport. He lived in the Eldridge area until he and his wife decided they were tired of the cold Iowa winters and moved to the Fort Myers area in 1986.
Wayne was married to Laraine J. Shaw on March 21, 1959, marking the beginning of a devoted partnership that spanned over four decades. Together, they built a loving family that includes their three children: Jody (Mitch) Pfab, Rodney (Brandi) Bell, and Jayne Bell. Wayne was also a proud grandfather to Stefanie (Todd) Van Tassell, Lee (Kim) Bockenfeld, and Benjamin Edwards. His legacy continues through his cherished great-grandchildren, Emma Sailor, Garret Sailor, Alissa Bockenfeld and Luke Bockenfeld. Additionally, he is survived by a sister, Sandra Bell and sister-in-law, Linda Shaw and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother, Lon Bell and grandson, Nathaniel Edwards.
Wayne’s life was defined by his dedication to his family and the joy he found in their company. Also, he enjoyed traveling (adventures) and camping with his wife and children. He will be remembered for the love and guidance he provided to those closest to him.
