Stanley A. Thee, 85, of Eldridge, (formerly Donahue) died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2021, at home surrounded by family.  Services in celebration of his life were held Monday, Oct. 25, at 10 a.m. in the Runge Mortuary Chapel.  Visitation was Sunday, Oct. 24, from 4-7 p.m. at the mortuary.  Burial was in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the Donahue Volunteer Fire Department. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com.

Stanley was born on Oct. 16, 1936, to Arthur and Edna (Krebs) Thee.  He married Julia Blocker on Oct. 4, 1958. Julia preceded him in death in 2010.

He worked at Rohlk Lumber and Grain before going to Pillsbury Grain & Elevator in Linwood, which after several mergers, retired from Harvest State.  He then took a part-time job at River Bend Transit before retiring in 2019.  Stan served his community as the deputy fire chief at Donahue Volunteer Fire and several years on the city council.

Stan was a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.  He valued time with his family, including watching his great-grandsons run around and giggle.  He enjoyed playing cards, going out for breakfast and watching the Hawkeyes with friends.   He loved traveling, whether it was to see the Cubs play or to Australia.  He was truly “Stan the Man” and made lifelong friends wherever he went.  We’ll miss his wit and joy for life.

Those left to honor his memory are daughters, Lorrie (Kenneth) Brock and Mary Thee; son, John Thee; grandchildren, Nicole (Brad Fehnel) Brock and Josh (Brittany Wruck) Brock; great-grandsons, Caleb Brock, Ryder Brock and Emmett Fehnel; sisters, Phyllis (Dennis) Arp and Joanne (Steven) Holmes; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
