Shirley was born Nov. 3, 1940, in Eaton, Colo., the daughter of John and Zelma (Waits) Nazarenus. She was the sixth child of seven, with two brothers and four sisters.  She graduated from Davenport High School (Central) in 1959.  She then continued her education at AIC, where she studied bookkeeping.

She met her soulmate, Donald M. Stoltenberg, on a blind date.  They were united in marriage on Oct. 6, 1962.  They were blessed with two children, Douglas and Cynthia.  Shirley worked for Lujack Auto Plaza for 15 years as a bookkeeper.  After retiring, she and Don spent their time traveling to Fiji, Hawaii, Alaska, Australia, and England.

Those left to honor her memory are her husband of 58 years, Donald Stoltenberg of Eldridge; daughter, Cindy Hall of Bettendorf; son, Doug (Kathy) Stoltenberg of LeClaire; grandchildren, Nathan (Allie) Stoltenberg of Elgin, Ill., William Hall of LeClaire, Jessica (Clinton Fanning) Cauwels of Wilton, Russell (Tessa) Stoltenberg of Maquoketa; great-grandchildren, Larry, John, Lyndsey, Remington, Gunnar, and Lia; sisters, Jeanie Korte and Elaine Nazarenus, both of Florida; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Helen Cockren and Betty Combs; and brothers, Johney and Jimmy Nazarenus.
