Obituary: Ruth Wright

A celebration of life service for Ruth Lenore Wright, 95, of Bettendorf, was held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 11, at the Runge Mortuary, Davenport. Visitation was one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the mortuary. Burial was in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Wright died Saturday, June 6, 2020, at the Iowa Masonic Home, Bettendorf.

Ruth Cone was born March 3, 1925, in Milton, Iowa, the daughter of Hamilton and Hallie (Stevic) Cone.

She married Silas Wright on Jan. 1, 1940. He died in 1981.

In earlier years, she worked as a butcher at Oscar Meyer. She later worked as a seamstress for Burke Cleaners and Lorraine Lingerie. She also assisted in the office at her husband’s business, Si Wright’s Auto Service.

Her hobbies were being outdoors, hunting, fishing, cooking, baking, and spending time with her family.

Survivors include a son, Silas Lynn (Judy) Wright, Bettendorf; daughter, Pamela (David) Lambert, Highlandville, Mo.; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Kay Murphy; a granddaughter, Kimberly Hute; and five siblings.

Memorials may be made to the Iowa Masonic Home.
