Obituary: Roy Husen

Roy Louis Husen, age 92, of Walcott, formerly of Dixon, passed away Thursday, June 30, 2022, at Courtyard Estates, Walcott.  A private family service was held at Bentley Funeral Home, Durant.  Friends and family were invited to a light luncheon that was served at approximately 12 noon, Tuesday, July 5, at the Dixon American Legion, Dixon.  Private burial took place in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery.  Memorials may be given to the Dixon American Legion in his memory.  Online condolences may be left at www.bentleyfuneralhome.com.

Roy was born in rural Clinton County on June 24, 1930, the son of Walter and Viola (Steinbeck) Husen.  He attended Calamus High School, graduating with the Class of 1948.  Roy proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1952-1954.  He married Shirley Burrichter on Feb. 15, 1953, in Wheatland.

Roy worked at Alcoa for over 10 years and later worked for Twin State Engineering in Durant for over 40 years before retiring.  Roy had a passion for farming and farmed while working at Alcoa.  He was a 70-year member of the Dixon American Legion.  Roy was also a member of Deer Valley Collectors and was proud of his restored 1937 Model D John Deere tractor. 

Roy will be dearly missed by his wife of 69 years, Shirley; two children, Bruce Husen of Hazelwood, Mo., and Gale Cirricione of Milan, Ill.; three grandchildren, Michele (Brian) Lewis, Paul (Ashley) Cirricione, and Grant Husen; five great-grandchildren, Brendan, Austyn, Henley, Rilynn, and Paxon; and one sister, Roma Grell of Davenport

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Delmar Husen; two sisters, Helen Hansen and Marleta Pruhs; and one brother in-law, Gerald Grell.
