Obituary: Ronald Mess

Ronald W. Mess, 72, of Princeton, passed away on Friday, June 5, 2020 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 11, at Ron’s home in Princeton, 420 N. River Drive.  Visitation will be held an hour before the services.  Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery in LeClaire.  Memorials may be made to the Mississippi Valley Sportsmen Club or to the American Heart Association.  McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home of Bettendorf is assisting the family with arrangements.

Ron was born March 27, 1948, in Davenport, the son of LaVerne E. and Hazel June (Watkins) Mess. He had served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1970.

Ron had been employed as a machinist with the Bee Line Company in Bettendorf for 45 years.  An avid duck hunter, he also enjoyed fishing.  Ron had made decoys and scull boats and enjoyed playing Euchre in earlier years.  He and Rosemary enjoyed their home on the river, and he also enjoyed spoiling his granddaughters

Those left to honor Ron’s memory include his wife, Rosemary (to whom he was united in marriage on May 9, 1968, in their home); his sons, David (Paula) Mess of Camanche, and Robert Mess of Princeton; and his granddaughters, Abby and Taylor.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Donald Mess.
