Obituary: Rita Glade

Rita Kay Glade, 70, formerly of Davenport, passed away Friday, Jan. 13, 2023, at Wheatland Manor, surrounded by her family. 

Visitation will be from 12-2 p.m., with the memorial service starting at 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 28, at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Inurnment will be at the Maysville Cemetery, with a Celebration of Life to follow at the Maysville Town Hall.

Rita was born to Carl Jr. and Ruby (Finck) Ferris on July 2, 1952, in Davenport. After graduating from North Scott High School, she ultimately retired from Oscar Mayer, where she worked in product control for 34 years. While at Oscar Mayer, she met her soulmate, Fred Glade, they were inseparable and married April 12, 1980, in Davenport. 

Rita enjoyed writing personalized poems to share with loved ones, reading, bargain shopping and taking photos. She had a unique whistle that became her trademark and it followed with playing a tune with her hands. Rita did a lot of volunteering over the years in addition to being a loving mother, a caring wife, grandmother, sister, and friend. She adored her grandchildren and the time they were able to spend together. She had an infectious smile and bubbly personality spreading cheer wherever she went. 

Throughout her entire life, Rita held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her. 

Rita will be lovingly remembered and missed by her children: Ange Glade, Todd (Tori) Glade, Mindy Glade; mother, Ruby Ferris; siblings, Rod (Rachel) Ferris, Ken (Peg) Ferris, and Jody Struve; grandchildren, Taylor, Trevor, Marquis, Mia, Mariah, Maliyah, Korey and Kamron.
