Obituary: Manuel Guerrero

Manuel O. Guerrero, MD, 88, of Bettendorf, died Saturday, Nov. 27, 2021.

Visitation was at 10 a.m. with services to follow at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th St., Moline. Entombment after at St. Mary’s Mausoleum, East Moline.

Dr. Guerrero was born on June 14, 1933, in Monterrey, Mexico, to Refugio and Marina (Ortiz) Guerrero. He graduated from medical school at Autonomous University of Nuevo Leon in Monterrey, and served his residency at Cook County Hospital in Chicago. It was during his residency that he met the love of his life, Lillian Beisang. They married on May 9, 1959. They came to Moline in 1961 to raise their family. Manuel joined the staff as a board certified anesthesiologist at Trinity Medical Center and its predecessors for 39 years, retiring in 2000.

He was past president of the Medical Staff at Trinity Medical Center, and a former member of Moline Rotary Club, and the Rock Island County, and American Medical Societies.

Manuel loved his family with his whole heart. His loss will be forever felt. He was the world’s greatest Dad and Grandpa. “Doc” was an avid Cubs, Bears, and Illini fan, ardent reader and loved listening to Frank Sinatra.

Manuel is survived by daughters, Desiree (David) McCammant of Eldridge, Elizabeth (Chris) Guerrero-Davis of Naperville, and Maria Guerrero and Dennis Farrell of East Moline; a daughter-in-law, Becky Cubbage Guerrero of Davenport; grandchildren, Grace (Chris) Wagner, Alexander and Sam McCammant, Maya Davis, Dennis Farrell Jr., Jennifer Cubbage, Nicholas Hagist, Bradley Baker, Spencer and Quinton Guerrero and many great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Lillian and sons, Poppy and Vincent Guerrero.
