Obituary: Lila Maynard

Lila Rose Maynard, 86, a resident of Princeton, died on Friday, Sept. 25, 2020, at the Allure Nursing Center in Prophetstown, Ill.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 30 (today), at Elmwood Cemetery in DeWitt. There will be no visitation.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Princeton Volunteer Fire Department or Boll’s Community Center in Princeton.  McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home of Bettendorf is assisting the family with arrangements.

She was born in Steward, Ill. on Dec. 24, 1933, the daughter of Kelly and Rose (Bradford) Austin.  On Nov. 30, 1952, she was united in marriage to Glenn E. Maynard in Clinton.  He preceded her in death on Oct. 10, 2009.

Lila managed the River Court Senior Housing in Princeton for 20 years.  She and Glenn loved living on the river, spending time fishing, boating and camping.  Camping was also a favorite and they traveled many enjoyable miles in their travel trailer.  They also loved Hawaii and traveled there several times over the years.

She was an avid volunteer and played an important role in the development of Boll’s Community Center in Princeton.

Those left to honor her memory include her brother, Louis Austin of Peoria, Ariz.; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Vera Myroth, Irene Cardott and Lorene Dennison; and her brother, Olen Austin.
