Obituary: Lamoine Rekemeyer

Lamoine “Rick” L. Rekemeyer, 83, of Davenport passed away on Saturday, Feb. 5, 2022, at ManorCare. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 11, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Davenport. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. Private burial will follow at Inland Cemetery, Bennett. Memorials may be left to St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Lamoine was born on Feb. 8, 1938, in Davenport, to Melvin and Adeline (Riessen) Rekemeyer. He graduated from Bennett High School in 1955. He was united in marriage to Shirlene Rekemeyer on Oct. 14, 1956, in Davenport. Lamoine was employed at Kraft Foods and Quest Liner. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and attended Wednesday morning coffee club. He loved watching the Chicago Cubs baseball, the Iowa Hawkeyes football and basketball teams. He also enjoyed solving crossword puzzles.

Survivors include his loving wife, Shirlene; daughter, Angel (John) Josten; two grandsons, Joshua (Katie Peters) Josten, Nicholas (Jody) Josten; three step-great-grandchildren; Danielle, Noah and Weston Hanson; one brother, Ross (Phyllis) Rekemeyer; one sister, Susie Hillmann; stepsisters, Lavonne Gehrls, Luetta Hoon; stepbrother Leon Makoben and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Victor Makoben; son, Joe Rekemeyer; daughter-in-law, Maureen Rekemeyer and brother-in-law, Louis Hillmann.
