Obituary: Kenneth Freund

Kenneth W. Freund, 82, of Walcott, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2020, at the home he lived in his entire life.

Kenneth was born in Davenport on May 3, 1938, to Lorenz and Leone (Seghers) Freund.  He graduated from Davenport Central High School in 1956.  Ken married Carol M. Kress on Feb. 15, 1964, in Davenport.

Ken farmed in Scott County his entire life. He raised stock cows and calves.  He served as Scott County Soil Commissioner for 14 years and was a Blue Grass Township Trustee.  For 18 years, Ken transported Scott County 4-H projects to the State Fair.  He was active in the maintenance and preservation of the Kistenmacher Cemetery.

He proudly served his country in the Army Reserves.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 15 (today), from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Bentley Funeral Home in Durant. Please respect social distancing guidelines and wear a mask.

Private family graveside services will be held at the Blue Grass Cemetery.

Ken is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years, Carol; their daughters: Vicki (David) Thompson of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Nancy Freund of Brunswick Hills, Ohio; two grandchildren: Jared and Shannon Thompson.

He was preceded in death by two brothers: Sylvester and Lester Freund and his sister Marcella Rowe.
