Obituary: Joyce DeCock

Joyce E. DeCock, 75, of Long Grove, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2024, at her home.

A Celebration of Life gathering will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 18, at the Long Grove Community Center in Long Grove.

Joyce was born Aug. 31, 1949, in Ottumwa, the daughter of Raymond and Veronica (Crall) Coughlin. She was united in marriage to Richard C. “Dick” DeCock on April 7, 1973, in Long Grove. Joyce had been a bookkeeper with Jerry’s Electric in DeWitt for several years and had been a caregiver for the elderly in recent years. 

Joyce and Dick had operated a petting zoo at Scott County Park, where they had showcased many exotic and farming animals.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Dick; her siblings, Ron (Pat) Coughlin of Eldridge, Jean (Danny) Curran of Melrose, Robert (Rita) Coughlin of Georgetown, and Mary Pat (Buck) Fry of Albia; several nieces and nephews; her brothers-in-law, Mike Ogle of Albia, Ron DeCock of Iowa City, and Dale (Annabelle) DeCock of Eldridge; and her sister-in-law, Barb DeCock of Davenport. 

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Julie Ogle; her parents-in-law, Charles and Norma DeCock; her sister-in-law, Nelda (Keith) Dice; and her brother-in-law, Denny DeCock.
