A funeral service will be held at a later date for Joseph Saur, 79, of Blue Grass. Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. The Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mr. Saur died Sunday, April 5, 2020, at his home.
Joseph Saur was born March 10, 1941, in Muscatine, the son of Russell and Eva (Moffit) Saur. He graduated from Bettendorf High School.
He married Mary Atchison on Aug. 24, 1991, in Blue Grass.
He farmed until the early 1980s, and then went on to drive semi truck for Gless Bros. in Blue Grass for 30 years.
In earlier years, he was a member of 4-H and raised and showed cattle.
His hobbies were dancing with his wife and entertaining.
Survivors include his wife; his children, Kenneth (Anita) Saur, Susan (Craig) Christensen, Roxanne (Joe) Newberry, Tracy Davis, Calvin Smith and Kelly (Kathy) Smith; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a sister, Carry Saur Gesling.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Steven.
