Obituary: JoAnn Dierickx

JoAnn Dierickx, 85, of Waupaca, Wis., died Sunday, Aug. 29, 2021, at the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King in Waupaca. 

Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, at St. James Catholic Church, Toronto, Iowa. Burial will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Big Rock. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home in Davenport is assisting the family with arrangements. 

JoAnn was born on Jan. 9, 1936, in Clinton, the daughter of Edward “Eddie” and Alice Matilda (Galitz) Donult.  She was united in marriage to August Dierickx on July 7, 1956, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Long Grove. They shared almost 64 years of marriage and memories together before his passing on June 28, 2020.  She was a loving wife, mother, and friend.    

Survivors include her children and their spouses: Michele (Katsuyuki) Nanto of Bartlett, Ill., Mike Dierickx of Maplewood, Minn., Janine (Jason) Moe of Hudson, Wis., and Joseph (Kathy) Dierickx of Marshfield, Wis.; grandchildren: Tomio (Helena Lazar) Nanto, Kenji (Stephanie) Nanto, Mikio Nanto, Matthew Dierickx, Zachary (Emily) Dierickx, Brian Dierickx, Joshua Dierickx, Karissa and Tylene Dierickx; great-grandchildren: Skylar and Kylie Dierickx, Kai, Naomi, Mya and Emi Nanto.

In addition to her husband, August, her parents preceded her in death.  May they rest in peace.
