Jeri Moore, 74, of DeWitt, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.

Jeri Jean Moore was born Feb. 4, 1948, to Warren and Arlene (Swain) Darland of McCausland. She graduated with one of the first classes of North Scott High School in 1966. Jeri met the love of her life, Al Moore, during her high school years. She attended Missouri State Teachers College. On Christmas Day of 1966, Al proposed and she accepted, and the couple were married March 6, 1967, the beginning of a marriage that lasted over 55 years. They were blessed with two children, Tracy and Jason. Jeri worked at Edward White Elementary School in Eldridge, Caterpillar, and Scott Co. Secondary Roads Department, both in Mt. Joy. The couple raised their family in McCausland, and retired to DeWitt in 2016. Jeri was a lifelong member of the McCausland Methodist Church.

Her family meant everything to her. She was an adoring grandmother to nine grandchildren, one who is with her in heaven. She unashamedly spoiled them as much as possible.

Jeri loved floating the river on the pontoon, listening to music and catching the rays. She had a running text thread of streaming recommendations that she was always sharing with friends and family. Jeri had a wonderful bubbling personality that made the people close to her feel good.

Jeri was the loving wife of Al, mother of Tracy (Matt) Lindaman of Eldridge, and Jason (Jen) Moore of Plainfield, Ill., grandmother of Shelby (fiancé Matt), Hannah, Nick, Ceci, Jack, Logan, Will, Teagan, and Finn, and sister to “the 5 J’s.”

She was preceded in death by her parents, and grandson, Jack.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 6 (today), at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. A Graveside Service will be held at 11:30  a.m. Thursday, July 7, at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt. Please bring a lawn chair.

Arrangements are in the care of Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. Condolences may be expressed at www.schultzfuneralhomes.com.
