Obituary: Janet Lindstrom

Janet L. Lindstrom, 81, a resident of Bettendorf, died on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2024, at the Bettendorf Healthcare Center.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, at the Chambers Funeral Home in Eldridge.  Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park.  Visitation will be from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to Sonshine Community Ministries or the Deacon’s Fund at Cornerstone Baptist Church of Eldridge.

She was born in rural Mt. Pleasant on Dec. 25, 1942, the daughter of Wayne and Lena Mae (Pickard) Hallowell, and graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School.  She also attended the American Institute of Commerce in Davenport.

On Jan. 31, 1965, she was united in marriage to Richard “Dick” Lindstrom in Salem, Iowa.  He preceded her in death on Dec. 4, 2013.

Janet was a Certified Bookkeeper and in earlier years worked at Professional Building Services of the Quad-Cities.  She also spent many years as an Avon representative. 

In her spare time, she loved to crochet and was an excellent cake decorator as well. Janet was a devoted and loyal member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Eldridge for over 40 years.

Those left to honor her memory include her children, Joleen Guess of Kalamazoo, Mich., and Gary (Melissa Johnson) Lindstrom of Davenport; her grandchildren, Laura McAllister, James McAllister and Gillian Geist; her sister, Dana Hocker of Brookport, Ill.; and her brothers, Gail Hallowell of New London, and Leo Hallowell of Burlington.

Janet was preceded in death by her infant brother, Gary and by her parents.
