A Celebration of Life service for Helen J. Muhs, 93, of Eldridge, was held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 22, in the Walcott Cemetery. The Runge Mortuary, Davenport, assisted the family with arrangements.
Mrs. Muhs died Wednesday, June 17, 2020, at her home.
Helen Dietz was born Oct. 11, 1926, in Muscatine County, the daughter of Riley and Velma (Pahl) Dietz.
She married Raymond Muhs Jr. on Dec. 25, 1946, in Walcott. He died Nov. 11, 1971.
She and her husband farmed in Eldridge.
She was a member of the Pythian Sisters and two Questers groups, and was active with the Scott County Iowa Pioneer Settlers Descendants, and her craft and card clubs.
Survivors include her daughters, Carol Muhs, Grizzly Flats, Calif., and Barb VandeVoort, Blue Grass; her sons, Paul Muhs, Coulee City, Wash., and David Muhs, Eldridge; her grandchildren, Jesse Lindsey, Tara Stark, Andrew, Ben, Jordan, Dietrich, and Elena Muhs; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Brian Muhs; a sister, Edith Harksen; and her brothers, Darold, Emmett, and Riley Jr.
Memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice, the Walcott Historical Society, the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation, or the Mighty Oaks Warrior Foundation.
