Harry was born on Jan. 4, 1932, in Reed, Ky., the son of Leonard and Wyatt Josephine (Bennett) Heppler.  He joined the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean conflict.  Following his military obligation, he attended Evansville College and earned his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.  On Aug. 20, 1955, he was united in marriage to Peggy E.
