Dennis C. Paaske, Sr., of Deming, N.M., passed away Sept. 22, 2025, at the age of 78 with his sons at bedside.
Dennis was born in Davenport to Eleanor (Musal) and Alvin Paaske. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Herbert, Ronald, and Larry, and is survived by a brother, Frank (Cathy) Paaske; children Dennis C. Jr. (Gina), Jared, and Sara Jo; grandchildren Natalie and Valerie; and nieces Judy, Joni, Sheri, and Michelle.
After graduation from North Scott High School, Dennis served in the United States Army and then worked the family dairy farm in Long Grove and for Swiss Valley Farms dairy co-op. He then went on to manage dairy herds in Alberta, Canada; the Joseph Gallo Dairy in California; and, for the State of California prison system.
His love of purebred Brown Swiss dairy cows kept him happy and busy. During many years as a member of the National Brown Swiss Association, he traveled far and wide with a show string of cows resulting in Grand Champions, Premier Breeder and Exhibitor awards.
The only competition for those Brown Swiss might have been the Chicago Cubs; he was “over the moon” when the Cubs won the World Series in 2016.
A private cremation has taken place and there will be no service.
