Deanna Marie Stender Hargis, 68, of Davenport, died Thursday, April 9, 2020, at Genesis East Medical Center following an extended illness. Cremation rites have been accorded, and a family service will be held at a later date. Iowa Cremation Services is assisting the family with arrangements.
Deanna Stender was born July 17, 1951, in Davenport, the daughter of Alvin and Lorraine (Marshall) Stender. She graduated from North Scott High School.
She married Buck Hargis in 1976; they later divorced.
She was employed by Davenport Schools in the cafeteria at Children’s Village, retiring in 2014.
She was a Cubs fan and enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews and reading.
Survivors include her siblings, Alvin (Susan) Stender, Kay Kurschinski, Lori (Robert) Lucier, and Penny (Paul) Meyer; and nine nieces and nephews, Valerie, Stephen, Brett, Sean, Abbey, Stacy, Lyndsey, Clayton and Bronson.
