Obituary: Charles Harman

Charles Leroy Harman, 70, passed away peacefully at his home in Bullhead City, Ariz., on Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2021, after a seven-year courageous battle with cancer.

Services will be held at a later date. Burial will be in the Dixon Cemetery.

Charles Leroy Harman was born July 15, 1951, in Chicago, the son of Eleanor King-Harman and Charles M. Harman. He attended Dwight D. Eisenhower High School in Blue Island, Ill., and Scott Community College in Davenport.

He married Sindie S. Horstmann on Sept. 12, 1970, at Hope Lutheran Church in Dixon.

He retired from the transportation industry.

Charles was a member of the Manteca Sunrise Kiwanis, Masons Zealous Lodge #435, the Too Much Fun Club, Stockton Harley Davidson Chapter, Stockton Motorcycle Club, the Dixon and Maysville, Iowa, and Midlothian, Ill., fire departments, the Buffalo Ambulance Service, and was a CPR instructor for the American Heart Association and an instructor for the Iowa Fire Service Training Bureau. His hobbies were woodworking, hunting, guitar, camping, and riding his motorcycle. He was a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Sindie S. (Horstmann) Harman; his children, Todd (Jessica) Harman of Rail Road Flat, Calif., Angela (Randy) Jenkins of Valley Springs, Calif., and Jason Harman of Salida, Calif.; his siblings, Charlotte Grabe of Oak Forest, Ill., James Harman of Mediapolis, and Betty Rangle of Niles, Ohio; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eleanor King-Harman and Charles M. Harman; his sisters, Mary Baker and Linda Siddle; his brothers, William Harman and John Harman; and his father-in-law, Edward Horstmann. May they all rest in peace.

Memorials in Charles’ name may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care, and mailed to Sindie Harman at 3327 Santana Loop, Bullhead City, AZ 86442.
