Obit: Russel Hain


Lt. Col. Russel Edward Hain (USAF, Retired), 94, died at home Dec. 7, 2020 in Austin, Texas.

He was born Oct. 16, 1926, the youngest child of Pearl Dora Kaufmann Hain and Elwood Parker Hain, on their farm in Moscow.

Russel Hain will be greatly missed by those he leaves behind. He was a loving son, brother, husband, dad, grandpa, uncle and friend. He is preceded in death by parents Elwood P. Hain (Pearl); brother Paul F. Hain, Sr. (Anna Mae); brother Harold A. Hain (Betty); sister Betty Kleindolph; his children’s mother, Adele M. Hain; nephew Robert J. Hain and stepson James V. Collins.

He leaves behind his wife, Bettye Jo Hain and her family, which became his own, especially his cherished step-granddaughter Danae Bailey, whom with her husband Mike and children Keiley, James and Taylor, allowed him to pass at home with love and care; four daughters, Susan (Doug) Ryan of Fort Collins, Colorado, Cristie Lee of Fort Collins, Colorado, Pamela (Ed) Pierce of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, and Joyce Winn of Kyle, Texas; five grandchildren (Megan, Shannon, Oren, Abbey and Rachel); two great-grandsons (Rowan and Torin); brother-in-law Neal Kleindolph, and the rest of Russ’ extended family with their own cherished memories of growing up with this dear man in their lives.
