A 15-year-old was charged with making threats of terrorism following a precautionary lockdown at North Scott High School Tuesday afternoon.
According to a statement released by Eldridge police chief Andrew Lellig Wednesday morning, the school was placed on lockdown after reports a student may have been in possession of a weapon on school grounds. Law enforcement and school officials conducted a search of the school and no weapon was found. The 15-year-old was taken into custody and was transported to the Scott County Youth Justice and Rehabilitation Center.
Lellig thanked staff and students for their cooperation during the lockdown, and reminded students of the importance of reporting suspicious behavior to trusted adults, including the school resource officer or an administrator, to help ensure continued saftey at North Scott schools.
He said the investigation remains ongoing, and no further details will be released at this time.

On Tuesday, October 7, 2025, North Scott High School staff and the Eldridge Police Department School Resource Officer were informed of a potential threat involving a student who may have possessed a weapon on school grounds.
As a precautionary measure, the school was placed on lockdown while law enforcement and school officials conducted an immediate investigation. Following the investigation, a 15-year-old student was taken into custody and charged with one count of Threats of Terrorism. The juvenile was subsequently transported to the Scott County Juvenile Detention Center.
The Eldridge Police Department would like to commend North Scott School District staff and students for their cooperation during the incident. The department also reminds all students of the importance of reporting suspicious behavior to a trusted adult, such as a School Resource Officer or school administrator, to help ensure the continued safety of the school community.
