Eldridge hikes electric rates as power plant deal sours

City's share of generating station now adds expenses, not revenue

Eldridge utility electric costs will go up about 8.88 percent for the city’s 2,472 residential customers beginning Dec. 18, the first of two planned rate hikes to offset the first losses from the city’s shared ownership of a power plant.
