He was born in Hebron, Ill., on Dec. 16, 1936, to Wayne and Viola Cole. Dick and Shirley (Reynolds) were married in Mason City on Nov. 22, 1958. They have three children: Terry (deceased), Shelly (Tim) Kuhl, and Kathy (Steve) Cole/Smith, both of Eldridge.
They have five grandchildren: Leanne, Torrie, Colton, Andrew and Drake; and four great-grandchildren: Matthew, Owen, Lyla and Haisley.
Dick has been a vocational educator in many Quad City schools, and an active volunteer in numerous civic organizations.
