Death Notice: Larry Radetzki

A funeral service for Larry E. Radetzki, 76, of Bettendorf, will be held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4 (today), at Trinity Lutheran Church, Davenport. Visitation was Tuesday, Sept. 3, from 3-7 p.m. at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport.

Mr. Radetzki died Thursday, Aug. 29, 2019, at his home.

Larry Radetzki was born Oct. 22, 1942, in Davenport, the son of Elmer and Violet (Schesser) Radetzki. He graduated from Davenport Central High School in 1961.

He worked for a number of years as a clothing industry buyer for multiple fine clothing retailers, including Mosenfelder’s and Schubach stores. For the last 25 years, he operated his own interior design business.

He began his music career as the organist for Holy Cross Lutheran Church at the age of 13. Since 1979, he was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he also served as head organist, director of music, and adult choir director. In earlier years, he was commonly known as “Larry Lux,” as he played at various nightclubs throughout the Quad Cities. He was also known as “Mr. Music” on the show Romper Room. He was a member of the Lindsey Park Yacht Club and Oakwood Country Club.

His hobbies were boating, traveling to Arizona to be with his family, and dining with friends.

Survivors include his sister, Maryann Thompson; his nieces, Kimberly Miller and Beth (Manfred) Nimmervoll; and great-nieces and great-nephews.
