Deputy Zach Ahrens and wife, Taylor, and daughter, Emerson, pose with Denali, the sheriff’s department’s newest police dog.
Ahrens pinned a new badge on the one-and-a-half-year-old female Belgian Malinois. Denali is trained for narcotics detection, criminal apprehension, tracking and searches.
The sheriff department paid about $10,000 for Denali, including training for the dog and handler.
The Ahrens keep Denali at home, and she is terrific with Emerson, the couple said.
